What is the Study Tour?

The Study Tour is an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity to see how the 30 Hour Famine funds you raise are making a difference. Travel to a World Vision community overseas and witness how the Famine is working to overcome hunger and transform lives. The Study Tour is not a mission trip. It is a chance for students to learn from community members and come away with a broader understanding of global hunger and poverty. Download the application here.

Top 5 reasons you should apply

1. Meet amazing people. Get to know World Vision staff, other Famine participants and locals in the country you visit.
2. Open your eyes to poverty. You can only learn so much about poverty in the world from far away. Get up close, step outside your comfort zone, and learn what life is like for millions around the world. “Because of Burundi I look at so many things differently now,” said 2011 Study Tour participant Nicole. Traveling to a foreign country will open your eyes and help you see beyond your life in the United States.
3. See your funds at work. Visiting a World Vision community is a huge honor-one that most employees don't even get! The Study Tour is a unique opportunity for you to enter into the communities, hear the stories of the people you serve, and see the development work of World Vision.

Where in the world?

Every year the 30 Hour Famine takes students to a foreign country that benefits from the Famine. The past three years we have gone to Mozambique, Bolivia and Burundi. This August, for the 2012 Study Tour, we are traveling to Zambia! Click here to learn more about World Vision's work in Zambia.

The details you need to know

The trip costs $1,500 + vaccinations, extra travel money, etc. To be eligible to participate in the 2012 Study Tour you must… 

-Participate in the 2012 30 Hour Famine (May 2011-April 2012)

-Raise at least $360

-Be between the ages of 14-20 (By May 11^th, 2012)

-Be able to travel in August of 2012
