Unleash the Power of Your Youth and Transform Your Church on Famine Sunday!

 

Famine Sunday is the perfect time to invite members of your congregation to start a deeper relationship with one special child in need through World Vision's child sponsorship program. Child sponsorship is one of the most effective ways to change a child's life while helping an entire community get on its feet. Your students can influence your entire congregation to save even more lives! And their testimonies are powerful motivators to potential child sponsors. It's easy to make child sponsorship a part of your Famine Sunday, especially if you plan ahead:

  • Get your group excited about reaching the lives of even more kids in need.
  • Prepare your students to share the impact the 30 Hour Famine had on their lives and the long-term difference that members of your congragetion can make by sponsoring a child.
  • Order sponsorship materials from World Vision (at least one month before your Famine event). You'll receive:
    • Picture folders of children waiting to be sponsored
    • Brochures about child sponsorship and World Vision that can help answer questions
    • Easy, complete instructions
    • Postage-paid return envelopes to return the signup information and new sponsors
  • Plan ahead to present child sposnorship. Make all necessary arrangements at your church, incluidng a table to display picture folders, a place to hang posters, reservations of video equipment, etc.
  • Be Prepared. Please order your Famine Sunday sponsorship materials from World Vision at least 2-4 weeks before your Famine event. And note that the sponsorship materials will be shipped to you 10-14 days before your Famine.
  • During your presentation, share world hunger information (page 4 of your Leaders Guide), the child sponsorship segment found on the 30 Hour Famine program video, a skit, or a journal entry. What you do is up to you!
  • Immediately after your event, make sure your group members are available to answer questions and help members identify children they would like to sponsor.
