Unleash the Power of Your Youth and Transform Your Church on Famine Sunday!
Famine Sunday is the perfect opportunity for your youth group to connect with your congregation by sharing how they were impacted by the 30 Hour Famine. It is also a great way to offer the members of your church the chance to make a Christ-centered decision to change the life of a child by sponsoring a boy or girl in need for as little as $1 a day. How do I plan Famine Sunday?
- First, ask your senior pastor for permission to have your group take over the church service on the Sunday after your Famine. If you can't take over the whole thing, see if you can at least have a few minutes during the service to have your students share how the Famine impacted their lives.
- Next, get your students involved! Church services need greeters, ushers, worship leaders, Scripture readers, etc. And don't forget to have a few of your students give their own personal testimonies about what doing the Famine meant to them. The congregation will love hearing from the students directly!
- Be sure to offer your church members the opportunity to sponsor a child through World Vision. Not only will it change the life of a child in need, but it can change the life of the church member as they help the “least of these” by sponsoring a child and building a relationship with them through letters and photos.
