2010 Destination: Bolivia
What do I need to know to go?
The Study Tour participants are selected based on an application process. Those selected pay only a portion of the trip costs (see below), with World Vision covering the remainder.
Full eligibility information below:
- Who is eligible to apply for the Study Tour? Any Famine participant (ages 14-22) who raises and turns in at least $360 (enough to feed and care for a child for a year) between April 2009 and April 2010. Any leader of a group (age 18 or older) who had at least one participant fundraise $360 or more between those dates is also eligible. Eligible leaders must have at least one student applying to go on the 2010 Study Tour.
- What do the Study Tour participants do on the trip? We will visit a number of communities impacted by Famine donations. You'll meet some of the children who are benefiting from the food and care groups like yours have provided. We will also hear from local World Vision employees about how they work and use donated funds to build a better world for children and their families.
(IMPORTANT: This is NOT a mission trip, but a chance for participants to get a first hand look at how the funds they raised are being used to help feed and care for children. This does not mean participants won’t do any work, but missions is not the purpose of the trip.)
- When will the 2010 Study Tour take place? Exact dates cannot be set for the Study Tour until participants have been selected, but the expected timeframe for the trip will be sometime in mid to late summer (July/August).
- How much does it cost to go on the Study Tour? Participants selected to go on the 2010 Study Tour will be required to pay $1,500 to help cover airfare between the U.S. and Bolivia, lodging for the entire trip, and all meals. The rest of the cost for the trip is covered by World Vision. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to/from our domestic departure point (TBD). Participants are also encouraged to bring a little spending money for any snacks or gifts.
- How do I apply for the 2010 Study Tour? Submit a completed Study Tour Application, including the Reference Forms (2 per student required). If you are a student applying as an individual and not part of a group, you only need to fill out the Student section of the application with accompanyiny letters of reference. All applications must be received no later than April 30, 2010.
- When will the names of the 2010 Study Tour participants be announced? The participants selected to go on the Study Tour will be notified by May 17, 2010.
