Study Tour winners announced! We have selected the following groups to travel to Swaziland this summer as part of the 30 Hour Famine Study Tour:
This year's decision was especially hard, as we had a ton of REALLY exceptional applications. We would like to thank every single person who took the time to apply for the trip, and to also thank you for your partnership with World Vision on behalf of children all over the world. It is our sincere hope that we'll see all of these great applications again next year, and will have the chance to offer this trip to other deserving groups. For more about the Study Tour, please read on. Every year, the 30 Hour Famine staff selects a small group of leaders and students to travel overseas to see how World Vision works, and how their Famine funds are being used. Past trips have gone to Uganda, Peru, Brazil, and Malawi, to name a few. Plus, click here to see a short slideshow of the 2007 Study Tour to Malawi. To qualify, a student must have participated in the 30 Hour Famine and raised enough to feed and care for a child for one year ($360) or more. A leader must have at least one student in their group who raised $360. A leader can only go with at least one qualifying student, and each leader can apply with a maximum of four students from their group. A student may apply without their leader if the leader is unable or unwilling to go. Each person that is selected is asked to pay a deposit (the amount changes from year to year). Each member of the Study Tour group will also be responsible for round-trip transportation to an east-coast city to be named, from which we'll be departing as a group for our destination. (The departure city is ususally either Washington, New York, or Atlanta.)
