Nazarene Famine Sunday!
Famine Sunday is the perfect time to invite members of your congregation to start a deeper relationship with one special child in need through Nazarene Child Sponsorship. Child sponsorship is one of the most effective ways to change a child's life while helping an entire community. Your students can influence your entire congregation to get involved in the lives of children! And their testimonies are powerful motivators for potential child sponsors.
It's easy to make child sponsorship a part of your Famine Sunday, especially if you plan ahead:
- Get your group excited about reaching the lives of even more kids in need.
- Prepare your students to share the impact the 30 Hour Famine had on their lives and the long-term difference that members of your congregation can make by sponsoring a child.
- Order sponsorship materials (at least two months before your Famine event) from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries by calling 1.877.626.4145. You'll receive:
- Profile cards of children waiting to be sponsored
- Brochures and FAQ booklets about child sponsorship
- Easy to follow application forms
- Plan ahead to present child sponsorship. Make all necessary arrangements at your church, including a table to display profile cards.
- During your presentation, share world hunger information (page 4 of your Leaders Guide) and share about how the Famine has affected your students. You can even give the students a chance to share. What you do is up to you!
- Immediately after your event, make sure your group members are available to answer questions and help members identify children they would like to sponsor.
