Partnering in God’s Kingdom
The Nazarene 30 Hour Famine powered by World Vision is an incredible way to participate in what God is doing through Christians in Malawi. Funds raised by Nazarene congregations will specifically go to help children and families in the World Vision and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries sponsored Mutendere Area Development Project (ADP) in Mzimba, Malawi. Through this partnership, 3,000 farmers will receive training in sustainable agricultural methods that will help provide food stability for families and children.

Partnering in Hope
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is partnering with World Vision to train farmers in the Mzimba region of northern Malawi. Over 3,000 farmers will learn to grow nutrient-full crops such as soybeans, groundnuts, and cassava. Some will learn seed multiplication, integrated fish farming, irrigation techniques, and the benefits of collective marketing.
As a Nazarene congregation participating in the Famine, your donations go directly to this project affecting the lives of people in Nazarene congregations as well as the whole community.

The Mzimba district in northern Malawi is predominately rural. Eighty-five percent of the residents of Mzimba depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Three droughts in the past 10 years coupled with lack of training in sustainable agricultural methods prevents people from growing the necessary food for good nutritional development.
Fourteen percent of people in the Mzimba area are HIV-positive, which limits their ability for labor-intensive agricultural activities. Some people spend much of their time nursing their chronically ill relatives and neighbors while looking for ways to meet the needs of children who are orphaned and under their care.
