Meet Jade….the newest Famintern!

It’s summer, which means it’s time for a fresh group of summer interns! We love our interns because they truly become a part of our team and do a ton of work on the program. We asked our newest intern, Jade, a few questions about herself and here’s what we learned:

What’s your story? [school, where do you live, exciting things you’ve done in the past…] I grew up in Tacoma, Washington, but currently live in La Mirada, California since I attend Biola University.  I’ve always wanted to work with World Vision in some way and am so grateful God has given me this opportunity to serve and hopefully gain some real-life knowledge too!

What are you studying & what’s your dream job? I’m studying Business with an emphasis in Management Information Systems and a minor in Bible, and am hoping this internship can show me more of the business side of a non-profit.  Right now I would have to say my dream job would be helping bring basic technology to kids in third world countries who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it…Not really sure how that’s gonna play out but we’ll see!

Hobbies/favorite books/movies/travel? My favorite hobby would probably be napping…I’m only half joking.  I also love laying out on the beach (which is basically napping) and trying LOTS of new and different food.  Right now I’m obsessed with finding good/cheap sushi restaurants in the area.  I also really enjoy traveling and being immersed in a new culture for a little while.  Some of my favorite places I’ve been to include Japan, Israel, and London. My favorite movie is A Walk to Remember (embarrassing).

Odd things about you…  I put salt on my watermelon before I eat it… is that odd? [Just a little……]

Why are you at World Vision and on the Famine team?  I’m working with the 30 Hour Famine team because they have made the call of “feeding the children” play into every aspect of their lives and I want to be a part of that!

What will you be doing on the team this summer?  I will be focusing on revamping the online giving website for the 30 Hour Famine [We know a few youth leaders AND students who will be stoked to hear about this!!] and serving the team in any other ways they need!
